About Nancy Olson

Nancy Olson has been actively riding since 1979, getting her start in Western Equitation and Pleasure on her Appaloosa. In 1981 she started competitive trail riding on her Morgan mare and in 1982 she added Hunter Equitation to her growing list of riding disciplines, riding under such names as Judy Smith, Wendy Bartoni, and Joe Lombard. She showed in the 2'6" to 3' division.

In 1984 Nancy enrolled at Newbury Junior College and rode at Saddle Rowe under the instruction of Cyndy van der Meer and Melody Taylor Scott. She also worked and trained at Woodrose Farm under Karen Lyons, there beginning her education in dressage and eventing.

In 1992 Nancy moved to Maine, where she has been instructing and training, in addition to running her pet sitting business, ever since.

Career Highlights:

  • Worked at Apple Valley Farm and trained with Joy Congdon (USDF Bronze and Silver Medalist) and Kathy Connelly (United States Grand Prix Champion and United States World Cup Champion).
  • Trained with Stephanie Baer (Advanced Level International Event Rider).
  • Trained with Joe Lombard, distinguished hunter judge.
  • Attended the Parelli Center in Colorado.
  • Has passed the original Level 1 and 2 Parelli assessments and is currently assembling a a video to submit for approval at levels 3 and 4.
  • Trained with David Lichman, Carol Coppinger, and Neil Pye, (Parelli 5 Star Premier Instructors).
  • Trained with Larry Stewart (Former 4-Star Premier Parelli Instructor, Senior Approved Young Horse Trainer).
  • Trained with Gina Torrell, Sharon Lindy, and Kelly Sigler (Parelli 3 Star Instructors).
  • Currently training with Tanya Rennie (USDF Gold Medalist).
